About
Why We Exist
The 10-42 Project was founded in 2021 with a simple but urgent conviction:
No first responder, and no family member, should walk alone in their hardest moments.
First responders face repeated trauma, crisis situations, and high-pressure environments that most people will never fully understand. Over time, that weight can lead to PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance misuse, strained relationships, burnout, and isolation.
Too often, the very people trained to respond in emergencies struggle silently when they need support themselves. 10-42 Project exists to change that.
No one walks alone.

The Beginning
10-42 Project was born out of lived experience.
As a first responder, Daniel witnessed firsthand the hidden cost of service, the cumulative trauma, the emotional toll, and the unspoken pressure to “handle it.”
Many first responders hesitate to seek help because they fear judgment and career consequences, question whether someone will truly understand and worry their privacy won’t be honored
What was missing were confidential, trusted resources from people who get it, without stigma, without professional repercussions, and without compromising dignity.
In 2021, that realization became action.
What began as a calling has quickly grown into a statewide movement across Iowa supporting current and former first responders and their families through mentorship, peer connection, retreats, restorative experiences, and faith-anchored community.

Our Mission
No first responder or family member walks alone in their hardest moments by providing confidential, faith-anchored support and pathways to healing.

Our Vision
A world where every first responder finds hope, restoration, and renewed purpose: personally, spiritually, and professionally.

What Makes 10-42 Different
The 10-42 Project is a 501(c)(3) faith-based nonprofit that walks alongside first responders and their families through the hidden struggles of trauma, mental health, and recovery.
We provide:
- Confidential mentorship
- Peer-to-peer support
- Retreats and restorative outdoor experiences
- Equine therapy partnerships
- Ongoing relational engagement
Our approach is rooted in trust, privacy, faith, family, and community. We believe healing happens best in environments where people feel seen, understood, and safe.
Growing to Meet the Need
Since 2021, 10-42 Project has grown rapidly across Iowa.
Through expanding partnerships, retreats, academy engagement, equine therapy collaboration, and outreach efforts, the mission continues to reach more first responders and families each year. The need is significant and so is the opportunity to make a difference.
